Natasha Karanja is a lawyer and technology governance consultant with experience in AI governance, data governance, digital policy and emerging technology regulation. Natasha advises governments, development organizations and private sector organizations on responsible AI adoption, data governance and technology policy. She has led the development of Responsible AI toolkits, AI literacy programmes and capacity-building trainings to support the responsible deployment of AI.
Previously, Natasha worked as a Tech Policy Researcher at the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology (CIPIT), where she led and contributed to research on AI governance, digital policy and emerging technologies across Africa.
She has also consulted with the Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya), the Kenya Bankers Association, the Association of FinTechs in Kenya, on open finance and technology policy initiatives.
Holding a Master of Laws in International Commercial and Economic Law from SOAS University of London, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Kent, and professional certifications in AI governance and digital policy, Natasha brings a unique blend of legal, policy and practical expertise to advancing trustworthy AI, strong data governance and responsible digital innovation.
